Your Task

Please locate the document “BA 205 Email Advice” which is under both files and the week module listing. The faux email is titled “A Request: Your Advice on Enrollment, Grading and Equality.” Imagine that this email is from Roberto Andronis, UNC Dean of Continual Improvement. Your task is to respond to the request from the dean; specifically, you will

1. Respond to the email you receive, writing and formatting your reply in your word processor.
2. Show your subject line at the top of the document; include your professional signature block at the bottom, as if the file were an email. (By the way, this is a great time to add a signature block to your normal email app if it’s not there already.)
3. Upload your file as a .docx or .pdf. Note that Canvas has trouble with native Mac files. (To the discredit of Canvas!)

Earning Points

To earn all possible points, follow all relevant advice in Chapter 7 for writing effective e-mails. If you leave out obvious e-mail tactics appropriate for your audience, you will lose points. Produce mechanically clear writing in order to gain maximum points; errors in English rules we’ve already covered will cause large loss of points.

Your reply if printed will be from 3/4 to 1 page. Replies less than 3/4 page will denote insufficient creativity in responding to the dean, thus loosing points. Replies longer than 1 page will also loose points, because the dean is busy and doesn’t have time to read more than a page.
