Tourism Indicators

Working independently, you will be develop a framework of indicators, which will inform help inform the implementation of a current tourism and recreation project/program. Your task is to discover a tourism or recreation project/program of interest to you, create an analysis of the program, and develop a set of indicators for success for the program/project. Indicators are measures to assess the progress, success, or shortcomings of the components of the project/program, and are highly subjective. You will be developing your own framework of indicators for your selected project/program. You will need to provide an explanation of how your framework of indicators will be monitored for success. We will review tourism indicators in the first weeks of classes. It is highly recommended that you select your tourism program/project early in the semester, to allow time for research. More detail on indicators and how to assess this project, will be provided in (voluntary) online sessions (which will be recorded) in the second week of classes. Each student is required to submit a 2000 word PDF file via email, on the due date (word count excludes tables, appendices, etc). Students must submit their own, unique and independent individual project. Additionally, a pivotal database to help search for data for the indicators is the World Tourism Organization’s website (www2.unwto.org/).
