Report on a Micronutrient Based on Scientific Evidence

Purpose:

To practice on doing a scholarly, evidence-based scientific research on a micronutrient.

Learning objectives:

  • To investigate a micronutrient using credible and reliable scientific evidence.
  • To provide proper in-text citation and a reference list using APA style.

Instructions:

Step 1 – Choose ONE micronutrient for your assignment from the list below and sign up for your choice under My Tools – Groups – Assignment 2. There are about 12-14 spots available for each listed micronutrient that you can sign up for by Nov 13th 11:59 pm.

    • If you work in a group of 2, you will submit ONE assignment together with your names and IDs indicated on the assignment. You will both receive the same grade regardless of how the work is divided.

Step 4: Answer the questions in the Worksheet below. Submit your assignment with the worksheet questions. Provide each answer under its corresponding question. Provide in-text citation using APA style 7th edition as indicated in the tutorial in the Tutorial: All About Citation in APA Style.

 

Step 5: Provide a list of reference using APA style 7th edition as indicated in the tutorial in the Tutorial: All About Citation in APA Style.

  5. List 3 food sources high in this micronutrient. Indicate the amount of this micronutrient provided in specified food portions in volume or weight (2 points). Provide in-text citation. (1 point)
  6. Use the 3 food sources indicated above to plan a detailed balanced meal for one day that would follow the snapshot plate of Canada’s Food Guide (2 points) AND provide sufficient amount of this micronutrient based on its RDA or AI. (3 points) Tips: Your meal plan must include meal time, types of food items, and amount of food items.
  7. Explain how your mal plan provide sufficient amount of this micronutrient based on its RDA or AI. (3 points) Tips: show how the calculation of how the amount of this micronutrient from its food sources add up in your meal plan.
  8. Provide a Reference List citation (5 points in total, see below for distribution of points).
  • Include at least 2 scholarly articles (can use additional citations such as textbook, lecture slides, and websites to support your answers). (2 points)
  • Provide relevant and accurate citation sources. (2 points)
