Design Partnerships for the Hispanic Guest Target Case

Weakness:

–       Target’s affordable price point makes it hard to collaborate with designers.

–       Target lacks recognition within the hispanic demographic

–       Perceived as lower quality products because of its affordable prices.

–       Lack of customer interaction through social media platforms

–       Designers don’t want to be affiliated with targets because they are trying to keep a certain brand image.

Opportunities:

–       Target has the resources to penetrate into the hispanic market.

–       Target can bolster their online presence to the hispanic community.

–       Target can grow their hispanic customer audience.

–       Target can attract more people that are into fashion.

–       Target has the opportunity to add more cultural products into their inventory.

Threats:

–       Target has other big name retail competitors. Ex. Walmart, Macys

–       Competition from online retailers.

–       Other retailers may follow a similar strategy as target and may affect targets effectiveness in penetrating the hispanic community.

Proposal

We are proposing to target to make a collaboration clothing line between Bad Bunny and Target. Bad bunny is a highly recognized hispanic singer and songwriter. He was born in Puerto Rico as Benito Antonio Martinez in 1994. He officially began his music career in 2016, releasing singles as an independent artist. In 2017, he signed with Cardenas Marketing Network, which booked him around Latin America with other up and coming artists such as Becky G., J. Balvin and Prince Royce. During this time, he released songs and made collaborations with other artists that hit the latin top charts, such as “Mayores”, “Sensualidad”, “Te Bote”, among others. He became world famous in 2018 when he released a song with Cardi B, titled “I Like It”. It reached number 1 in the Billboard’s Top 100. Bad Bunny has performed in different countries and venues including Madison Square Garden, center stage at Coachella, and Superbowl LIV. He continues to perform and release songs that are enjoyed by millions of people.

Target could make a collaboration with Bad Bunny to make a clothing line :

  • Bad bunny is a famous Hispanic artist.
  • His music is listened to by millions of people and is recognized throughout the world, mostly throughout Latin America.
  • Bad Bunny has a tremendous amount of influence within the hispanic community.
  • His style choices and bold personality, resonates with his many listeners and has pushed his music to the top.
  • Many listeners have idolized him for his fashion-forward clothing styles and his progressive stance concerning various social issues.
  • His latino pride has inspired many young latinos to be unapologetically themselves and embrace their hispanic culture.
