Persuasive Training Proposal

Part 1: Persuasive Training Proposal

Target Audience for The Training

Below is our group proposal to introduce and implement employee training that is specifically focused on networking skills. Our goal is to provide a special training program for a small group of newly intern-students at Deloitte. Currently, there is not a program that is designated for the networking skill of incoming intern students. It is important that Deloitte must have this program set up to help the interns define and develop the necessary communication skills in order to navigate through the corporate environment. In addition, this skill is really important and will equip the students in connecting with professionals inside of the workplace. Luckily our group consists of highly skilled and knowledgeable scholars in the Business school which would guarantee a high success rate in this program. With the introduction of our program to the group of student interns at Deloitte, we firmly believe that these students will learn a lot of great information and that would help to expand their network.

Employees from other departments within the company could provide us the feedback needed to create a database for the various positions for these interns at Deloitte. We are taking these valuable inputs from the employees to incorporate into our training in order to better serve others and not just the students. We are then building better communication and networking within the firms so the new interns would be able to adapt to the company culture at a much faster pace. This program alone is help building connection so everyone would feel more comfortable communicating with each other. This will also give the students at the firm a better foundation for future collaboration in doing projects. In addition, these students will get exposed to big projects and be able to help the senior employees who have years of experience.

Many articles and sources have been written on the benefits and rewards associated with the implementation and introduction of a well-developed Networking and Training Program. Some of these benefits include gaining new insight into the company, getting to exchange fresh ideas, get more access to job opportunities, build confidence, etc. Each one of these benefits will help make Deloitte a place where many students would want to intern. We are looking forward to working with you on making this plan a reality.

Introduction to The Training Topic

Our plan and commitment are to bring the Networking Training Program to Deloitte and to the students that are interned within the company. This program will help build and create a relationship for the students and employees in the organization. “With networking, it is easy for you to end up making great friends since you both think alike” (CP, 2018). The development and growth potential of our Networking Program would not be achieved without the industry research that we have conducted on the employees from Deloitte. Partly, thanks to our talented teams who have worked diligently in researching and developing this program. By tapping into the rich pool of information we have conducted, we are able to create and get the program running and ready to deliver to the organization, hopefully, it will contribute to the success of Deloitte for many years to come.

We are committed to follow strict standards and protocol of the company, but our vision is clear and that is to be able to deliver the best service while complying with the rules of the company. With the opportunities that are given to us, we promise to bring the knowledge, skills, and expertise to create a functional and successful program that can be used for all employees within the organization. We want to create a fun, productive, and positive working environment for everyone in Deloitte, so the company can grow and bring in more talented individuals that can contribute to the overall success of the company. “The benefits of building strong teams is in creating a strong business culture of support and learning. Connecting diverse sections of the business together can lead to new ideas, breaking down internal barriers and helping HR achieve some of their business objectives” (Collude, 2019).

Specific Goals for The Training Session

“According to many studies, having an open network is a predictor of success, increasing the likelihood of promotions and salary bumps. Connecting with other professionals gives you insight and makes you more effective, after all, which are attributes that any boss values and looks to reward” (Karrera, 2017). Today’s fast-paced and competitive environment in the services industry requires students to make a good connection in order to get an insight into the company and better prepared them for future job interview. “Expanding your contacts can open doors to new opportunities for business, career advancement, personal growth, or simple new knowledge. Active networking helps to keep you top of mind when opportunities such as job openings arise and increases your likelihood of receiving introductions to potentially relevant people or even a referral” (Page, 2018). The goal of our Networking Development and Training Program is to give the intern-students more leverage in connecting with current employees in the company. Our program also provides them with a better foundation, opportunities, and confidence in connecting and establishes a relationship with professionals within the firm, making it a smooth, transition, and seamless process.

The Goals and Benefits of Our Networking Program

  • Boosting self-esteem; Helping student gain more confidence in speaking with other professionals within the company.
  • Climb the corporate ladder and get promote faster; We want to provide the student a tool in making contact wisely and how they carry themselves in the workplace.
  • Opens doors to new job opportunities; Networking and attending job fair events is a perfect opportunity/place for student that are looking for an internship.
  • Fresh minds get to exchange ideas/Shared knowledge; Networking is one-way students can get to interact with others to take in/learn valuable information. Also, they are able to express their opinions and getting feedback for improvement.
  • Raising their profiles; We want the student to become visible in the workplace and be able to present themselves to the company and their employees in a professional manner.
  • Have a mentor/influencer from networking; From networking, student may come across someone that will give them great advice on education. Sometimes that mentor can refer them to their dream company. Or an influencer that always pushes them to achieve great academic success.

The Benefits of the Training

Networking skills enable employees to link and work together towards a mutual goal. However, interns will find networking to be very important in their search for a future job opportunity. Our training will allow students to learn how to better communicate with others. In addition, our Networking Program also enhances social interactions, which will enable the employees to work with the interns and thus enable the company to make maximum use of the fresh strengths, skills, and abilities of the interns. It is a worthy investment not just in the lives of the intern but also beneficial to the company.

In the business world, networking is an important factor that drives the decisions and opens doors for many opportunities, where only those who have a wider network are in a better position to excel. The company stands to maximize the impact of its internship program by ensuring that the interns get the best training, particularly on the skills for networking, thereby increasing their productivity and enhancing the working relationship with the senior employees. It increases the chances of being hired immediately sooner after the internship period than it would take for the interns who did not receive any networking skills training (Forret, 2018). (need to include quotation mark)

“The company will also save on the cost of operation by maximizing the cooperation of the interns with the rest of the employees so that they are able to assist them in accomplishing the duties and responsibilities” (Alex, 2019). The training is thus useful in optimizing the productivity of the interns in the organization and thereby justifying the cost of maintaining the interns. This is because networking skills enhance the relationships between the trainees and the employees of the company and thereby enabling them to be assigned the duties and responsibilities in a real-world working environment. An internship is a very decisive stage for many professionals, where it is easy to shape the behaviors of the employees at their internship. “Business networking benefits are the intangible gains made by communicating with other professionals in or relating to your industry” (Ward, 2020).

Agenda for The Training Session

Our group has created an action plan that will spell out the roles and responsibilities for every member in the group, as well as the commitment, times and goal objectives that we need to meets. This is an essential plan to ensure that the Networking and Training Program meet our standard and on budget, so it can align to changes of Deloitte and the economy. Below are the specific tasks and objectives that our group must meet:

  • Allow time for feedback from employees as well as other students in Deloitte.
  • Identify and address any changes that may affect the performance of our program.
  • Create a performance review documents to track the performance of our student trainees in our program.
  • Identify the Mission, Vision, Values and Goals of the organization as it pertains to the employee.
  • Detailed description of our group’s missions and objectives in delivering this program to the company and audiences.
  • The current and future needs of the intern students in searching for jobs.
  • Identify any change or miscalculation that might occurs during the developing stage of our training program.
  • Create a calendar with each specific deadline that our group needs to meet in order to complete the initial introduction and be able to deliver a complete product to the company and the interns.
  • Identify the methods and resources that will be used to train and improve the interns at Deloitte.
  • Detailed program competencies for the student along with the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed to pass the requirement of our training program.
  • List of opening job opportunities for the student trainees that is aligned with their skills.
  • Create a central database consist of all the documentations and resources that is associated with the student trainees in our Networking Program.

Student Interactive Activity

  1. Since our Networking Training Program is still in the researching and developing stage, could anyone provide us with comments or feedback that we could use to implement in our program?
  2. Which job industry do you guys think that the uses of networking and communication skills are highly needed?
  3. Networking is about making a professional connection, so do you guys think we should only connect to the professionals or just anyone in general?

Conclusion

Establishing and implementing a Networking and Training Program for the student interns at Deloitte will enhance their communication, socialization, and productivity in group work/projects. “When you continually network with other employees within your company, you’re building relationships, establishing rapport, and cultivating a mutual trust and respect that will enable higher productivity and a better overall work experience” (Lando, 2018). This program will also help foster and develop a collaboration between the students and various employees in different departments of the organization. It will increase the success and relevancy of the employees and students in working on big projects and developing plans for the company. The company itself will also benefit in terms of increasing their customer base due to the positive word-of-mouth from the people that are working here. With our program committee and goal objectives, we promise to bring benefits to Deloitte, its employees, and student trainees as well as stakeholders. We firmly believe in our long-term plan to increase the productivity of the employees and bring in profits for the company as well as their stakeholders while at the same time decrease labor cost by reducing the unskilled interns. We hope that you and other members at Deloitte will accept and support this Networking and Training Program.

Pratt had agreed to meet to conduct the interview about his industry and role at

Ryder logistics. He was very forward with his responses which made the interview go

very smoothly. When approached with industry related questions, Mr. Pratt explained

that the logistics and trucking industry is very strong as materials will always have to

move, and analysis will always need to be conducted for them. He also explained the

future of trucking in regards to keeping software technologies relevant and the distant

future regarding self-driving trucks which have already made their first pass around

Europe.

We then moved the conversation to skills and attributes that might help on the job, as

well as industry competition. He summarized quickly that it’s best to have a vast array of

skills for a company like Ryder. He stressed the ability of being relatable and to work

well with others within the company. He also stressed that in the age of technology, that

you really need to keep an open mind and learn softwares as much as possible, as they

are constantly changing. In regard to industry competition, I learned that Logistics in

trucking is very unique as there are only few very large companies like Ryder, such as

Penske. He stressed that a lot of these companies are only known for their rental

business as we see their trucks on the roads, but that is a very small part of the

business. Just as Amazon actual sells cloud computing services, it turns out that Ryder

is not simply a truck re
