For this assignment, you will select a program or issue that is of interest to you in local, state or federal government –can involve several levels of government, governmental agencies, and/or non-profit organizationsORyou can use one of the cases provided within the module for this project.•If you decide to select a program or issue -this may be an issue arising in the community that is impacting government bodies or non-profit agencies. Or it may be an issue that government bodies are trying to solve, either on their own initiative or at the direction of a higher level of government. Remember that one can evaluate anything –e.g. COVID related policies and mandates; COVID Impact on Housing, Education, and the Economy;COVID Stimulus Checks, Education Programsand Online Learning, Social Programsand Mask Mandates, Immigration Issues, Travel Bans, Medicare, Social Security, Body Worn Cameras, Social Injustice,Speed Limits, etc.Each day there are avast number of programs being evaluated for different reasons–select one of interest to you.

RESOURCES:Please correctly cite all sources using APA (Do NOT use Wikipedia). Refer to the Helpful Hints for APA guidelines. You may not use encyclopedias or websites that do not cite their sources as research sources for your paper. Quality research sources include scholarly and professional papers and articles, but you may also use organization documents, newspaper or magazine articles that directly relate to the program or issue you have chosen. Any indications of plagiarism will result in failing the assignment, along with any additional sanctions the University may deem appropriate.

Remember there may bemultiple issues(as in the case of Body Worn Cameras (BWC)), so state relationships or associations clearly.Remember why BWC became such a salient topic –it was identified as a possible solution to reduce the number of complaints against police officers,under the watchful lens of a camera it was thought that both police officers and citizens would behave differently, increase transparency and fairness in policing, and many additional issues.•What is the debate around your chosen program or policy?Cleary state why it is a debate.Use materialsfrom the articles and the text to discuss the impact and importance of this issue. oAs in the case withBWC, there was the issue of police discrimination based on race and the abuse of discretionary power, think about what it is today, and consider how it started, and how it becamean issue, etc.•Summarize and describe why it isimportant to address the programor issue you have identified for evaluation (e.g. BWC is important because it was viewed as way to improve public trust and confidence in the police…).
