Feature Story Assignment

Your assignment is to write a magazine feature story on a topic of your choice. Your story should be between 350 – 500 words.

Assignment (This assignment will be reviewed during our class session)

You will write a magazine feature story about any one of the following:

An individual
A community (e.g. an area/neighborhood in Lancaster)
An organization
An object
An event
A current issue in the media ( e.g. politics)
A cause (e.g. cancer/support group, advocacy effort)
Seasonal/ Holiday feature ( e.g. fall, Thanksgiving)
OR an approved category/subject/activity not listed in the options above.

Submission
You will submit your story via Canvas upload.

Your story should be typed, double-spaced and in 12 pt. font.
Your total word count should be between 350-500 words.
Please avoid writing your story in first person.
Your story should also include a headline.
Your story should also include an image/photo.
Your image may be your own or a copyright-free image from an online source.
Please write/credit the source of your photo in the photo credit section of your story.
Your final story submission will be published to your website.

Be creative with your story. Please try to incorporate at least two sources ( a document/research or an interviewee quoted).
