Description: A substantial part of your work this semester will involve planning, writing, and formally revising a paper of inquiry covering a theorist, a time period, or an avenue of communication study. Each of our assignments this semester will focus on the topic of your final paper and will build upon one another to the culmination of the inquiry paper subsequent presentation of said paper. To begin our work, you must choose a topic (due in Week 4) and begin to research articles, books, and other sources on the topic of your choice. You will then compile this research into a bibliography formatted in proper APA format. You must have no less than 30 and no more than 50 sources on the topic you have chosen and been approved to research. Your second task will be to take your bibliography and choose ½ of your original resources (15-25) and formulate those into an annotated bibliography.
The following are the main components of an annotated bibliography. It is important to note that not all fields shown below must be used at once in an annotated bibliography. The fields may vary depending on the type of annotated bibliography and special instructions from the instructor in case the bibliography is part of a school assignment.
Assessment: The bibliography and annotated bibliography will be assessed based on attention to detail in APA format. Number of sources. Quality of sources (scholarly and popular). Completeness of the annotation (for that portion) and quality of writing (grammar, sentence structure, etc.). These are each worth 100 points.
