Individual Reflection of Class

Individual Reflection

Part V is an individual reflection essay of 5-7 pages. The paper should be well-written, typed, double-spaced, include in-text citations and a works cited page, and conform to MLA or APA academic writing standards. Submit the paper to Canvas.

Overview of work completed (20 points) – Provide an overview of your service-learning: the issue you addressed, the strategy you took, and the service you delivered. Provide an authentic critique of the results — describe things that went well and things that didn’t go well. What did you accomplish? Did your project go as planned? Would you work with this community partner again? Would you recommend it to other students? Why or why not?
Community connections (15 points) – Describe the various communities you interacted with, including your group, the agency you worked with, anyone you met along the way, and the people you served. What did you learn about the people and the community? How did this project broaden your experience with social issues? How and why does this kind of interaction matter?
Course connections (25 points) – Make a minimum of three different connections between ideas from our class and your service learning experience. Explain the connection between the concepts and your experiences. These can be drawn from the UDHR, any of our readings, and any of the videos or other activities we cover in class. Be sure to explain the connection between the concepts and your experience. Each connection must be cited with a parenthetical citation in text and an entry on the works cited/references list.
Connection to general education, your major and academic learning (15 points) – Connect your experiences and the knowledge that you have gained as a result of this experience to your own academic study. How does this/could this new experience relate to your academic program? What learning occurred for you in this experience? What would you like to learn more about related to this community partner or social issue?
Analysis (25) – Provide an authentic critique of the way you and each member of your group worked. What were the disappointments and successes of your project? What did you gain from this experience? If you could do this project again, what might you and your group do differently to make your service learning toward your social issue more successful?
