Paper: Book Review of Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Assignment:

Read the Purple Hibiscus firstly, then write a book review imitating one that Book Review about a work of FICTION

First, you will come up with a kind of formula based on the way the writer has approached the review. What do they do in the first paragraph, second, third and so on? Make careful note of this, and create a kind of template for your book review. (See example below.)

So let’s say I have chosen to write my review in the style of this one: Review of Kitchen.

Once you have created your template, you will begin to write your review, imitating the style of the newspaper book review you have chosen.

Assignment Requirements:

1. Your book review of Purple Hibiscus should be over 1,000 words (the typical length of a book review).
2. The style and content of your book review should pretty closely imitate the one you have chosen to use for this assignment.
3. You must include a link to the book review you have chosen to imitate at the end of your Word document (or PDF).
4. You must also turn in your template (like the one I did above) in the same file, at the end of your review so that I can see how you moved from your template to your book review.

Grading Criteria:

1. How effectively you can create a template of the review you have chosen to imitate.
2. How well you can generally follow the format and content of the review you have chosen.
3. How effectively you can elucidate YOUR review of Purple Hibiscus.
4. How clearly you can communicate ideas about an abstract idea.
5. How polished and professional your paper is.
