GEOG 1200 Research Assignment 15% of final grades Due no later than December 6, 2020 For your final project, you will write a short (4-6 page)paper on a physical geography related topic/event of your choice. You may choose a topic/event we have covered in class, as long as you undertake additional research and use sources beyond the lecture or our course textbook. You Are also welcome to research a topic/event we have not covered in class. When Choosing atopic, keep in mind that you will need to report on: what the event was, where and when it happened, the extent of the event, who it impacted(i.e. population size), the cause of the event(i.e. the science behind it), and the ultimate ‘cost of the event (i.e. fatalities, damage costs, damage done to the landscape, affect to the climate, etc. on a local, regional, and/or global scale). Please do some preliminary research to make sure you can address all of these requirements before you start putting your assignment together.Your document must contain a proper location map (including features such as scale, compass direction,labels, etc.), images/diagrams/ figures displaying data (whichever is applicable),and proper referencing,including at least one academic reference (i.e. a journal article).You may include numerous pictures and diagrams if they help illustrate your points, as long as you adequately cover the issue in your text, making sure to reference every image you include.Be mindful of which sources you choose-websites are acceptable (especially for images), but please choose reputable sites for information or data. If you choose to create a poster, a PowerPointtemplatewill be posted on Brightspace, which you are free to use. If you have familiarity with and access to other programs (Corel Draw, Illustrator, etc.), feel free to use those in place of PowerPoint, but please adhere to the formatting guidelines.
