Global Commodity Chain Research Project and Presentation:

Each of you will be asked to work as an individual or group of 2 to identify and research a particular global commodity or dimension of globalization and examine various aspects of its process of production, circulation, and consumption, environmental impact, and cultural meanings. You may focus on:

Waste (e-waste, pollution, plastic)

How it affected society globally?

The idea is to select a topic and explore the political, economic, cultural, and environmental dimensions of these processes from production to consumption.

each student focusing on one or two aspects (depending on the commodity, a brand or energy source)

Presentation should include:

Writing a brief outline of the commodity chain presented in the paper:

What are stages of the commodity chain? Provide enough information about each point in the commodity chain, for example:

Design and technology

Raw materials and parts

Manufacturing

Sales, distribution

Marketing

Explain the social (labor), cultural (meaning), and environmental relationships and consequences behind your product/commodity not only in their places of origin but also in their destinations.
