As part of your application process for the position of Police Officer, you completed a Personal Data Questionnaire (PDQ), which you signed, dated September 23, 2020, and submitted to the Applicant Investigation Section of the Suffolk County Police Department. The PDQ addresses multiple specific aspects of a candidate’s life experience. One section requires candidates to disclose whether they have ever operated a motor vehicle while impaired or intoxicated by alcohol. In response, you (ME) indicated you had driven a motor vehicle while impaired on more than one occasion, and while intoxicated on multiple separate occasions. You most recently drove while intoxicated in August 2019. You then submitted a sworn written statement detailing these occurrences. Your statement included the admission that, on all of these occasions, you were under the legal drinking age of 21 years old.

Based on your demonstrated willingness to place the public at risk by driving while intoxicated, the Suffolk County Police Department is taking action to disqualify you from the Police Officer and Police Officer (Spanish Speaking) eligible lists. Pursuant to Civil Service Law, Section 50, subdivision 4, you are hereby given an opportunity to provide us with a written explanation and to provide us with any other facts that you would like us to consider in opposition to disqualification from the Police Officer and Police Officer (Spanish Speaking) eligible lists.

I just need a letter saying that I am aware of the actions that I did. What would of been the outcome if I got into a accident etc…. Basically making it official. That I have changed, that was stuff I did when I would go partying with friends etc.. Stuff you can add is that I am a volunteer firefighter (BFD) since 2018, I was a mta explore for about 2 years, I would do community work to help out the community. Becoming a cop and making change is something I always wanted to do and It won’t happen ever again. If you need any more information feel free to ask.

Around August 2019, MY cousin (Eddie) and I went to his friends house who was having a party. I was drinking Liquor mixed with juice. I was getting late the I ended up going home because I had work the next day. Reason why I didn’t ask anyone fo a ride was because most of them drunk more then me. So I drove home and made it home safely. Not hitting anything or anyone.
