1.Please read the following question carefully and answer all parts of the question. Your response should be a well-written carefully thought-out response to the issues raised. As a rough guide, your answer should be somewhere in the 350-400 words range.

The Fourth Lateran Council (1215) was called by Pope Innocent III to clarify church doctrine. How did it contribute to the development of inquisitions? Whom did inquisitions target and what did they do to their victims?

For question1: The pontificate period marked changes in the Roma church with the patterns of results exhibiting the people’s freedom( I”M NOT SURE WHAT YOU MEAN IN THIS FIRST SENTENCE OR THE NEXT.) The questions of inquisitions answered the importance of the divine God because people of the Roma Empire trusted and believed in the supreme God. The Bishop of the Roman church focused on building unity within the church that targets the Christians to believe in one sanction of Christ. Besides, in answering the questions of inquisitions, Latera council had believed that unity is a crucial symbol of inclusivity, and that explains why he chose to use the public proclamation of activities in the church, such as biblical teachings, to help people learn much about the pontifical periods in the church. The Lateran council focused on addressing church issues such as morality and self-consciousness to enable Christians to behave effectively according to their doctrines. The Roman church had set principles that supported its stability and continual operation within the Roman Empire. Therefore, helping people believe in the church doctrines is vital because it enables religious people to think and trust their church laws and jurisdictions. The Inquisitions targeted to address the issues of peace within the Christian families, thus helps in building a realistic environment that accommodates every church listener UNCLEAR. The churches on many occasions tend to liberty that connects religious services with the purpose of the church and its intent characteristics UNCLEAR . The inquisitions are focused on addressing the issues attributed to the church moral reforms to help religious leaders and Christians respect the faith and God’s work. On the other hand, the constitution drafted to manage the Christians focused on providing conducive environments to enable people to believe and trust themselves have the most contentious debate to support their lives and faith UNLCEAR. The Roman church established the most effective ways of respecting the holy land and the church of God. The inquisition addressed the roles of bishops in the Roman church and thus secured the state and church council’s decrees. European Christians and Jews defined the Jewish people as a religious community rather than an ethnic group. Christians accepted Jewish converts to Christianity with little stigma, and some converts had successful careers in the church. If a Jew became Christian, they were not thought to have any lingering “Jewish” qualities, as would be the case in the period in the early modern period, when racial theories developed, suggesting that a Jew was always a Jew, no matter if they converted to another religion or not. The economic role of Jews in the high medieval period was circumscribed by enforcement of the prohibition on owning productive land, and restrictive rules of the guilds, which dominated artisanal trades and many areas of business in medieval cities. As guilds were Christian religious organizations, they excluded Jews. This seriously limited the economic opportunities open to Jews. Many Jewish businessmen were restricted to money lending because Christians were forbidden to practice usury  —  the lending of money at interest. However, many Jewish moneylenders were not investing their own modest capital but acting as fronts for rich Christians. The role of Jews as moneylenders was related to the rise of anti-Semitism not only in terms of resentment of Jewish wealth, but also because anti-Jewish violence became one way to get out of paying debts owed to a Jewish lender.

Your response did not clearly address the assigned question and was difficult to follow. What were some of the new doctrines clarified by the Council? Who did the inquisitions target? It wasn’t the Jews.

2.Please read the following question carefully and answer all parts of the question. Your response should be a well-written, carefully thought-out response to the issues raised. As a rough guide, your answer should be somewhere in the 350-400 words range.

Explain the role that religion and the church played in the lives of seventh-century European nobles and kings. Be sure to use concrete examples in your response.

For question2: In 867, Basil I established the new royal administration that would direct the cultural and knowledgeable revival that came to be known as the Macedonian renaissance. During this time, researchers renewed the investigation of Greek and Roman writing, the renegade development lost its impact, and specialists started creating new masterpieces for the domain’s numerous churches.later, this would be significant as the Russian Orthodox Church, and the tsars would profess to be the genuine beneficiaries of Rome and protectors of the Eastern Christian world YOU SHOULD LEAVE OUT THE INFO IN THE RESPONSE UP TO HERE, SINCE THE INFORMATION ISN”T RELEVANT IN THIS CONTEXT. In 751, another Frankish dynasty was set up when Pepin, an authoritative official in the court, proclaimed himself the Franks’ genuine leader; hence, the Carolingian dynasty was established. A major key to Pepin’s power was the close relationship he set up with the papacy. Pepin had requested the pope’s help when he held onto power, and consequently, Pepin offered military and political help to the popes in Rome. “Charlemagne’s founded monastery schools for the education of secular clergy who, unlike monks, served the common people. He planned to have all male children in his empire taught to read, although this was never fully implemented. Carolingian monks made copying texts an art form in itself. The script they used, Carolingian minuscule, was beautifully written. The monks trained in these monasteries were often sent out to other countries to share their skills.” This cozy relationship between the pope and the Franks’ kings would be a critical component of the Carolingian line and was a commonly useful relationship that helped both the papacy and the kings fortify their power. When the Lombards were pressing into northern Italy and undermining Rome itself, the Carolingian kings battled to defend the pope. The best of the Carolingians, Charles the Great, or Charlemagne, proceeded with supporting the papacy when he became king. In 800, the pope delegated Charlemagne as the Roman sovereign. Thus, Charlemagne had the option to keep up his royal case. As head, he supported a recovery of Roman culture (albeit one much changed by the interceding hundreds of years) known as the Carolingian renaissance. Frankish religious communities reestablished the duplicating of Greek, Roman, and early Christian writings. He established monastery schools for the training of mainstream pastorate who served the everyday citizens in contrast to priests. He intended to have all-male youngsters in his realm instructed to peruse, even though this was rarely completely actualized.

  1. Discuss the following passage and describe its historical significance (what does it teach us about the past?) and place it in the larger historical context (what larger historical event/movement is it part of?). your answer should be somewhere in the 250 words range.

Henry IV: Letter to Gregory VII (1076)

“Henry, King not by usurpation, but by the pious ordination of God, to Hildebrand, now not Pope, but false monk:

You have deserved such a salutation as this because of the confusion you have wrought; for you left untouched no order of the Church which you could have made a sharer of confusion instead of honor, of malediction instead of benediction.

For to discuss a few outstanding points among many: Not only have you dared to touch the rectors of the holy Church – the archbishops, the bishops, and the priests, anointed of the Lord as they are – but you have trodden them underfoot like slaves who know not what their lord may do. In crushing them you have gained for yourself acclaim from the mouth of the rabble. You have judged that all these know nothing, while you alone know everything. In any case, you have sedulously used this knowledge not for edification, but for destruction, so greatly that we may believe Saint Gregory, whose name you have arrogated to yourself, rightly made this prophecy of you when he said: “From the abundance of his subjects, the mind of the prelate is often exalted, and he thinks that he has more knowledge than anyone else, since he sees that he has more power than anyone else.”

And we, indeed, bore with all these abuses, since we were eager to preserve the honor of the Apostolic See. But you construed our humility as fear, and so you were emboldened to rise up even against the royal power itself, granted to us by God. You dared to threaten to take the kingship away from us as though we had received the kingship from you, as though kingship and empire were in your hand and not in the hand of God.”

For question3: The conflict arose between the Pope and Henry due to appointing. Pope believed that the most effective anointment of a Religious reader is only from God, where Henry believed had more power than anybody else. According to the Pope, kinship or being a leader is not by Assumption but the power and gift ordained from God, especially to Hildebrand, not People but the false monk. Therefore, the presence of such a greeting has advantaged religion through frequent disturbance. As much is no authority in the church, it results in the follower not following and partaking honor to the church but leading to confusion to malediction and not to the benediction. On the other hand, the case suggests that it is against God will and authority to law hand on the appointed man of God of the holy church, including bishops, archbishops, and even the priest. However, the case suggests that anyone who will lay hand open the church’s rulers will have to suffer by crawling down under their feet like slaves because of ignoring the law of their masters. As a result, they had attained appropriate means to acquire to follow the order and command of their masters effectively by knowing all this.
In addition, the Pope conflicted with Henry, Pope States that Henry had threatened to take all power away from the church rulers despite all the power and empire being in the Church rulers’ hands. On the other hand, in his case, Henry believed being a King is not by Assumption. History significantly shows the livelihood of the priest, archbishop, and Bishop. According to the point, the first section of the Middle Ages, Popes, and other spiritual leaders had porous life. They ended up living a happy life since having a good relationship with the King of Western Europe. In response, the relationship was strong since 800 when Leo III crowned the Frankish King. History has effectively thought that past people valued peace and church leaders, and thus they respected them so much.

YOU HAVE CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED THE MAJOR ISSUE HERE – THE CONFLICT BETWEEN HENRY IV AND GREGORY VII OVER SPIRITUAL VERSUS SECULAR AUTHORITY, I FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW YOUR WRITING DUE TO GRAMATICAL ERRORS AND LACK OF CLARITY.

It seems that you are having some trouble with the essay questions due to difficulties writing in English. You have lots to say, but just need to work on expressing it more clearly.
