Structure of Paper
Your paper must be 5 pages long. Times New Roman font, double spaced. Must include references page.
YOU MUST CITE ATLEAST THREE SOURCES (3 different sources)
Conclusion
Sum up your research paper. Your conclusion should be an overview of everything that you have researched and learned. You are summarizing your paper in the order the way that you wrote it, and putting in order and bringing everything to a close.
APA Format Rules
The college standard for any college paper that you write is APA format. MLA format is a high school format for writing papers, unless you are a business major. If you plan on getting a Master’s or PHD, the standard for citing is APA format. Any four year school you transfer to the standard is APA. Please pay attention to the rules below concerning APA format.
Any work that is not cited will result in a 10 point reduction for each work not cited.
You need to properly have a work cited page at the end of your paper. Any paper that does not have a work cited page will result in an F grade. Please refer to Noodle Tools as mentioned in the library visit last week, or you may use citation machine. With these two sites there is no reason why a student should not have a work cited (Reference Page). The APA format blue book that was given on last Friday is also an excellent resource as well. The reason for your reference page is to also verify that those authors were listed somewhere in your research paper. If you have cited someone in your reference page but there is no direct quote mentioned in your research paper there will be a deduction of 15 points.
If you are copying word for word something from another source, whether it is from a book, an article online or on paper, or anything. You have to put what you are copying in quotes. For example……. “According to Dr. Wooten 65% of high school graduates go on to complete some type of educational training (Wooten, pg.56 2014).” When you are writing word for word you have to put the page number and the author, this allows the person reading your document to refer back to that very page. A direct quote from any source can only be a paragraph.
For example……… McCollough states that in 2015 enrollments at county college’s in New Jersey are expected to go up considerably from previous years. (McCollough 2014). Based on research and projections at Essex County College, McColloguh’s research seems to be correct.
When you are paraphrasing or putting in a direct quote. You must put in a sentence afterword’s, make sure your quote or what you are paraphrasing makes sense. Don’t just throw in a quote just to throw it in.
