2. In your introducction, name your current events topic IMMEDIATELY.
3. In your introduction, precisely list main points in the order they appear. “Save” background information and evidence for your main points, in ascending order of importance. for the “body” of the paper. Organize according to your main points as they are organized in your introduction. Write a conclusion that also summarizes your topic and main points. If your conclusion is better than your introduction, use a version of the conclusion as your introduction. Do not give in to euphhoric generalizations at the beginning or end of papers.
4.If you need to summarize a larger concept, such as Climate Change, you can assume the reader has some basic information before moving into the narrowed topic. Don’t forget in-text citations.
5. Using your weakest point first, write and cite both summaries and quotations of resources. DO NOT use only quotations. DO NOT PARAPHRASE TOO CLOSELY, as, even cited, can be counted as plagiarism. Overcite rather than cite too little. Edit quotes of 4 lines or more.
6. Introduce each quotation or other source (images, charts, graphs…) into your sentence. Do NOT leave quotations or other evidence (images, charts, tables…) “hanging off the ends of paragraphs. SURROUND any evidence with your commentary about the usefulness of each piece of evidence. Cite approximately 4-7 sources; if your sources are repetitive, use the best sources, and begin to write your paper.
7. Write substantive transitions bewtween points and paragraphs. Transitions should NOT be merely “next” or any “universal, but “empty” transitions.
8. Proofread your paper.
