What is the evidence for the existence of consciousness without a brain? How convincing is it?

I need this paper to revision of this paper. I have uploaded the old one that I had but it got a failing grade. I will also upload screenshots of the chapter “separation of mind from brain” so you can read it and understand the material to provide a better revision of the paper.

The Evidence for The Existence of Consciousness Without A Brain

           Consciousness is the state of being aware of one’s surroundings. There have been several debates as to whether consciousness can exist without the brain. Whereas some argue that consciousness is the emergent property of the brain and thus without the brain, consciousness ceases to exist, others argue that it exists independently and outside the brain (Lazarus, 2019). In this regard, the paper seeks to address the evidence at the same time reflecting on the chapter “separation of the mind from the brain.”

The evidence behind the argument that conscience exists without the brain is that it is an inherent property such as other aspects like gravity, dark matter, and dark energy. Consciousness is the self-awareness and capacity of one to reflect on their existence, and in this case, the brain filters and does not create it. The evidence of this is an example of human ears. It can only register a few sonic frequencies and ignores a huge amount that is not imperceptible (Lazarus, 2019). In this case, the brain is only responsible for filtering and perceive some parts of the cosmos intrinsic consciousness.

The argument is, however, not convincing. This is because consciousness cannot be separated from an individual’s brain as it is a different experience. Consciousness can be considered as the real host of human beings and uses both the body and the brain as a stable residence. Although there are claims that the brain is also connected to environmental consciousness, it is not critically necessary for consciousness. Thus, the idea of consciousness existing without the brain does not hold much weight.

The chapter considers the mind as independent from the brain, although the two have a relationship. It tries to explore if the brain exists outside the brain. The hypothesis tested is that there is consciousness after death. The chapter tackles this question using three different approaches. It looks at the possible contradictions to the evidence that the mind survives outside the mind.

The first approach looks for clues for the brain being expanded when it has been compromised, i.e., when experiencing dementia. When the brain is compromised, the way it perceives information normally that are hidden in the realms of ordinary experiences (Barušs & Mossbridge, 2017). The second case considered is when the brain is not working, i.e., during near death experience. However, consciousness persists after death. Near-death experiences are triggered when a person experiences a life-threatening scenario, for example, when in shock or blunt trauma from a fall or explosion. The mind experiences the events to sustain the functions in a loss of blood and replace panic-induced mysteries. The brain goes off, and the mind remains intact so that it records the person’s experience and memory as they happened (Barušs & Mossbridge, 2017). The third scenario is where there is no brain at all; this case is the apparent communication with discarnate through a medium
