INTERVIEW – Do an oral history of someone who may not be well known but should. History is happening all the time. Look for people whose lives have been impacted by the shifts and changes in Kansas.

Each paper should be at least five to seven pages long –or, if it is video at least five minutes of edited work. On each of the topics utilize all the research methods available –internet, library books, talk with people. Make sure all your resources are listed. For instance, you can go to one of our local museums and ask for someone that they need a profile on; if that person is living, do a profile on them, gather what information you can and write or video your project. Examples – Loyd Ratts, 103-year-old farmer still farming in Stafford County; Sam Bird, Wichitan who guarded and headed the honor guard of John F. Kennedy’s casket and funeral. Maybe the subjects are people you know – in your family or neighborhood. You must be able to explain and defend why this person is significant in contributing to th4e state and national history.
