Assessment task details and instructions

You should fully consider and respond to the following instructions for the Assessment, which are detailed below:

Coursework Submission 1 – Industry Structure, Skills & Process Issues Report

As the newly appointed Construction Project Manager for an organisation, you have been tasked by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to produce a critical report about the future of the organisation, your pivotal role and how that’s impacted by the changes that have taken place and are constantly at pace taking place, within the UK construction Industry, specifically resources and capability, that will inform company strategy on capability and capacity. You are asked to provide a structured critical review and analysis of past and current industry issues as they relate to undertaking construction projects.

Your structured approach should be based on selected ‘frameworks’ that relate to, the industry structure, industry skills and gaps, and aligned with industry project management processes; typically following closely to the structure/s provided by the following strategic reviews … the Industry structure and the recommendations contained within the process analogy in the Farmer Review, the Industry generic skills identified in the Egan Review, or the common project management and contractual arrangement set out in the Latham Report.

This review should be supported by (1) recent academic research, (2) selected project case studies, and (3) your own reflective professional practice and experiences; wherever possible.

You should relate these issues to specific stages within a project management system and in so doing, discuss how your role as the Project Manager for the organisation needs to evolve and respond to the issues identified.

* An overall minimum of 15 different material/resource sources is expected in your references (including those provided by your tutor in the brief).
