Report on the requirements of lighting and electrical distribution for a small industrial building.

In your capacity as an assistant designer for a building services firm, specialising in electrical works, you have been asked to prepare a report on the requirements of lighting and electrical distribution for a small industrial building. You have been provided with a basic plan and section for the proposed building (in both digital and printed formats).

You are asked to do the following:

• Prepare a design proposal, showing:
  • electrical distribution through the building
  • lighting locations and types, including switching and circuit information.
• Associated with your design proposal, you will prepare a report which includes:
  • an explanation of the chosen method of electrical distribution and the equipment used, comparing this to other options
  • calculations to determine the appropriate illumination level for working surfaces in different types of spaces
  • a specification for suitable luminaires to provide the calculated illumination in different spaces
  • a specification for a suitable distribution panel.

Your design proposal should be presented through drawings, at a minimum of A3 size. You may use a CAD application or complete the work by hand. Whichever format you choose, your drawings should be clear and readable, providing relevant information using industry standard annotations and graphic symbols.

The report should include calculations, diagrams and any relevant research material
