You will draft a single page letter to a state legislator that includes recommendations based on the theory/issue. You will not send the letter as part of the class assignment, but rather submit it to the instructor.

You can select a family or developmental theory to use for this assignment.

This is one assignment you will not need to cite references. The reason for this is that you will be writing for a “lay audience” (someone that may not know as much as you about the issue or problem to which you are bringing to them). There is a way to write about theories explicitly and non-explicitly. For other assignments, you will write and reference the theories explicitly. For this assignment you will write about it non-explicitly. I will be able to tell which theory you are using based on the concepts you choose, but the legislator to which you would write to would not know this.
