– Annie Laduke is a 32-year-old Native American with complaints of pain, increased redness, and warmth of the lower leg in the calf area. According to Annie, signs and symptoms of having deep venous thrombosis causes blood to be trapped behind the blockage. Based on what I have learned from the nursing process, one applicable nursing diagnosis would be, Ineffective Peripheral Tissue Perfusion due to the signs and symptoms the patient has. The possible treatments for this patient could be anticoagulants or thrombolytic agents. Nursing considerations would be pulmonary embolism.

– Start with upper extremities, then move to lower.

– Inspect the color of the skin and patients nail beds.

– Check for any lesions, edema, size of arms and any differences bilaterally.

– Check the presence of hair.

– Palpate the skins temperature and texture.
