Do you all think the approaches of Islam towards the continent of Africa differed from Christianity?

The history and diffusion of Islam in Africa spread relatively quickly from what we read from Robinson. Many types of diffusion processes took place throughout Africa. Relocation diffusion occurred when Muslims were fleeing persecution and settled on the coast. From there, Islam spread inland with expansion diffusion or direct contact with the religion. The religion of Islam spread to the eastern coastal areas and up the Nile valley to Sudan, and across the western desert. The Sahara Desert was known as the “great connective space” in Africa, and thus began the routes for the diffusion of disease, religion, trade, and travel. On these routes, large oases dotted the path to ensure the trip was simple and uncomplicated. For over 1000 years, these trade routes were used to spread Islam, boost trade, and many other things, it became the highway in a sense.

Geographers believe that Muslims and their religions played a huge role in the development of Africa. They sped up the process of state-building, commercial networking that linked the farthest corners of the continent and served as a legal system regulating trade. Muslims also brought the literacy rate up on the continent and brought knowledge about cosmopolitans. Because of all the connections that were forming between Islam and the traditional religions of Africa, we the two, in some cases, adopt the ideologies of the other. When the Tradition African religions influence Islam it is official called “ajamized” or Africanized.
