Reading Response

For this week, you read an article about parental involvement in middle school, focusing on three levels [parents, teachers, and students]. I’d like your response to focus on two main areas:

1) The article itself: what do the authors have to say about successful partnerships between schools and families? What strategies seem useful, and what would you want to employ in your own classroom/community? What challenges these partnerships?

2) What have your own experiences been with parental/guardian involvement in school? This could either be your experiences growing up [so reflecting on your parents’/guardians’ involvement in your own school] or your experiences now [if you’re a parent/guardian of a school-aged child].

You can write your response [probably around a paragraph for each section; make sure that you make it clear that you’ve done the reading] or you can record a video/audio [by hitting “Record/Upload Media” below and recording your response]. Your audio response should be about 2 minutes long and should cover the above questions [and still make it clear you did the reading].
