Define and discuss the central and peripheral routes to persuasion. Do you think you get more persuasive messages directed at you via one route or the other? Do you think you are more persuaded by messages using one route or the other?
Define the term social loafing. Discuss the research on this topic and the implications for group work of whatever kind you choose (job, school, family, etc.).
Define social facilitation and explain what it means. Be sure to use the vocabulary discussed in the notes, but try to put the explanations in your own words. Can you think of any real world examples from your own experience?
What is deindividuation and why is it dangerous? What examples of this can you bring to mind from real life and how might we try to reduce the extent to which people behave in deindividuated ways?
Pick 1-2 topics that most interested you in these chapters. Write about them in a way that explains them and tells why they most resonated with you.
You don’t have to write about all of the above, but these are some possible questions to consider. Writing on just one of them in detail would be sufficient.
As outlined in the syllabus, these are ” brief writing assignments (1 to 1.5 pages) where you reflect on course content and address your choice of prompt questions or topics.” For format, the paper should be double-spaced, with 1-inch margins, and in an 11-point font. No heading is needed; I’m expecting 1 to 1.5 pages full of your writing.
It will be evaluated according to Specs Grading. Again, as discussed in the syllabus:
“There will be five basic requirements for each reflection paper assignment:
1. It must be submitted on Blackboard in an accessible format (MS Word compatible file or PDF),
2. It must be submitted on time (timestamp recorded on Blackboard).
3. It must be professional in its writing style (grammar, spelling, organization of ideas, etc.).
4. It must be meaningfully related to the course material being discussed that week.
5. It must be substantial work showing good effort (thoughtful, meeting length requirements, etc.).

Those are the ‘specs’ or requirements for the assignment. Meet all of those specs and the assignment gets a score of 100. Fail to meet any of them and it gets a zero. Do honest, good, and careful work on these assignments and they should all get full credit.”
