Participant’s information:

Name: C (please refer to child as C throughout paper)

Demographics: 4 year old Hispanic female, attends an Early Head Start program. Family income unknown, C is a foster child and was accepted into the program as she is categorically eligible.

Personal/home: C was placed into the foster care system at 9 months. She has since been living with foster family who is biological mother’s mother and step-father. Biological mother has weekend visits with C however, she is working towards gaining full custody. It has been reported that C comes back home to foster parents very upset and aggressive after weekend visits.

Educational Information: C has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Has an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) which mandates services from a Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) and therapeutic approaches such as play therapy. C displays behaviors such arguing with adults, blaming others, being spiteful, vindictive and hyperactive which often interferes with her learning. C prefers interacting with adults and when interacting with peers, C always takes the role as the one “in charge”.
