You will write an analysis (minimum 250 words, no maximum) where you offer a strategy to reduce the impact of mass incarceration. You should focus on a specific area. For example, this could be demographics (the poor, youth, males, immigration, Indian territory) or a feature of mass incarceration (private facilities and services, pre-trail detention and bail, jail churn, etc). Focus in on one aspect that stands out as important to you and write an analysis that will explain a strategy for reducing incarceration rates.

– Your writing must demonstrate that you understand the causes of crime and the characteristics of those within the criminal justice system from this chapter.

– Writings should reflect problem solving by offering a strategy that is well developed.

– Solutions should be targeted instead of wide. They should be specific and not general.

– Avoid overly simplistic solutions and use collegiate level writing.

* Read Ch.9, read the link and watch the video. Information from these sources must be included in your writing.
* Support statements with information from your sources.
* Avoid statements such as “I feel” and “I think”. Instead, state your perspective (e.g., “Detention facilities should provide….) and support it with information from your sources.
* Requires at least 400 word minimum (no maximum) in essay format with correct grammar/syntax
* Requires answering every part of the question/prompt above.
