Community Health Nursing includes a variety of roles with a population focus in this course.

Roles include: Public Health nursing, Home Health, Hospice, Prison nursing, Parish nursing, occupational health nursing, case management, school nursing, etc.

As you look at your position in healthcare, how is it important to collaborate and communicate those in community health nursing? With hospital/ clinic nursing roles, knowing the resources in the community for education to patients and referral for the patient can help with the collaboration between hospital and community settings with patient care.

Knowing the populations within a community and their health risks/ issues can be valuable with developing strategies for improving outcomes between hospital and community settings.
