The final exam will be an out-of-class college-level essay in which you explain the tenets of composition. In this multi-paragraph essay (with intro paragraph–including thesis statement–body paragraphs, and concluding paragraph), you should discuss the ingredients of an effective college essay. Review your class notes and textbooks for ideas to include in this paper. Some of the obvious components would be organization, structure, development and support, thesis statement, topic sentences, grammar/mechanics, rhetorical modes, and anything else worthy of discussion. You won’t be able to discuss all of the ingredients of effective writing, so pick the qualities you think are most necessary and significant.
