Final Exam Criteria   This module contains the criteria and description for our courses’ FINAL EXAM, which is worth 20% of your final grade.   Format: 5-page paper (double spaced, 1-inch margins on all 4 sides, Times New Roman font, 12-point font size).   Do not go under 5 pages; do not go past the 5th page.  Structuring your paper with a strong opening, an informative, research- based middle/body, and a strong conclusion, write a 6-page paper discussing Tracking & Analyzing A Pro Sports Team’s Media Use.  (continued on next sl Final Exam Criteria (cont.)   The way professional sport organizations use sports media (both to their benefit and detriment) continues to explode and evolve more and more with each passing year (and every month-to- month).   Pick a professional sports team – from either the NFL, NHL, NBA or MLB – and you’re tasked with tracking & analyzing that team’s media use. It can be (and should cover) social media, digital marketing, press conferences, official website usage, commercials, advertisements and sports talk radio interviews.   You are going to be documenting how the team using all media channels, outlets and platforms. How is it getting its message across? How is it building its brand? How has the team used certain media platforms to combat a scandal or controversy its faced? How often does the team use certain media platforms? Which does it rely on more often that others?   Please cite your examples and references (do this on page 6 … so you’re first 5 pages must not include the Works Cited page) – from issues of SportsBusiness Journal, as well as the Internet (website sources must be reliable ones. If you’re in doubt, contact me to vet the source). Wikipedia doesn’t count.   Quotes from personnel within the industry and on the team should be included in your paper, too. You can find quotes from the team’s athletes or front office or coaching staff from newspaper articles, radio interview transcripts, etc. Remember – giving your paper a bunch of quotes, adds backbone and supports your theory/stance on a topic.   Please email me with any questions you have regarding the Final Exam.
