Assignment 2: Planning for Field Experiences

Field experience (including Demonstration Teaching) is an important component of Walden’s Teacher Preparation Program with a Master of Arts in Teaching. In most of your teacher preparation courses, you are required to complete a designated number of field hours in various educational settings. Advance planning is critical to your success with your fieldwork.

For this week’s Assignment, you will complete three requirements in preparation for your field experience. You will also write a brief essay on the role field experiences play in effective teacher preparation.

To begin, review and follow the instructions on the Submitting Field Experience Documentation sheet.

Important Note: These requirements must be fulfilled by Day 7 of Week 2 of this course; however, you are welcome to submit them earlier if you choose.

After exploring this week’s Learning Resources, write and submit a short essay that addresses the following:

• Why are field experiences a critical component of your program, and what part do they play in you becoming an effective educator?

Be sure to include references to the Learning Resources in your completed assignment.

(Assignment length: 1–2 pages).

By Day 7

Submission and Grading Information

To submit your completed Assignment for review and grading, do the following:

• Please save your Assignment using the naming convention “WK1Assgn2+last name+first initial.(extension)” as the name.
• Click the Week 1 Assignment 2 Rubric to review the Grading Criteria for the Assignment.
• Click the Week 1 Assignment 2 link. You will also be able to “View Rubric” for grading criteria from thisarea.
• Next, from the Attach File area, click on the Browse My Computer button. Find the document you saved as “WK1Assgn2+last name+first initial.(extension)” and click Open.
• If applicable: From the Plagiarism Tools area, click the checkbox for I agree to submit my paper(s) to the Global ReferenceDatabase.
• Click on the Submit button to complete your submission.
