Journal Prompt: #5

• What are the qualities of your favorite teachers?
• How do these qualities relate to diversity, equity and inclusion?
• How do we improve schools for the modern-day student?

Expectations:

A major part of your grade for this class is your journal.  There are journal reflection prompts each week and reading journal assignments.

• Journals should be 2-3 pages double-spaced, 12 pt. Times Roman Font with 1-inch margins.
• Then a brief summary of the reading assignment and three most significant points of consideration regarding the reading.

Journal Overview:

1/26 – Tuesday – Kendi, chapter two

• Then a brief summary of the reading assignment, (depending on the length of the readings this should be a couple of paragraphs)
• Then a section entitled:  three most significant points of consideration regarding the reading and a closing section entitled Questions where you list any questions this reading or video suggested to you.
• Write about the racial identity challenges you choose to take on.  For those entries simply write the heading RACIAL IDENTITY CHALLENGE.  Underneath that, identify the challenge you undertook and what happened, and how you made sense of it. More will be explained about this in class.
