The major assignment for this course is the creation of a written business plan. This is an individual student assignment, although you are encouraged to discuss your ideas with other students on the course discussion boards and via email. There is a suggested Business Plan Format in Chapter 8 of the textbook. There is also a Sample Business Plan in the appendix of the textbook, which you can refer to as you build your plan. There are also many business plan web site links listed on the publishers web site and on the External Links page. You may write a plan for any kind of company (traditional old economy or new e-business), including traditional small businesses, retail, or an ebusiness startup if you wish. The total length should be at least 8 pages, including the Executive Summary (that is 2 pages or less). Submit your plan in MS Word format. Include at least 3 years of financial estimates plus a break-even analysis. The due date is stated on the course outline, but earlier submissions are encouraged. Do not wait until the last minute!
