In this assignment you are the HIM director of a hospital in Napoleon, Ohio and you are tasked with abstracting data related to Cancer Registry. Your CFO asked you to provide her with comparisons among the following counties represented by the cities of Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Marietta, and of course Napoleon.
You will use the Cancer Country Profiles from the Ohio Department of Health website (https://publicapps.odh.ohio.gov/EDW/DataCatalog) to gather and manage the data in order to prepare the following dashboards showing the following information indicated in the below Deliverables. In addition to looking at the DOH website for Ohio, you will also need to review/reference 2 other resources to help provide supportive rationale for all the writing in this assignment.

- Tab 1: Review the provided website and abstract relevant data on your Raw Data Abstraction tab.
- Below the Raw Data Table – provide a summary paragraph which describes how you abstracted the data, why it is meaningful, and what key points can be derived from the data.
- From this Data, determine the top three cancer sites by county based on the number of cases.
- Tab 2: Create a table that uses your Raw Data, but illustrates the Top 3 Cancer Sites in a unique way.
- Below the Table – provide a summary paragraph which explains the table information
- Tab 3: Create a Bar Graph to compare your county’s top cancer site incidence rate to the other counties, the state, and the nation for the same site.
- Below the Bar Graph – provide a summary statement describing the bar graph along with a list (dots) of at least 3 details the reader can compare/contrast incidence rate in 1) other counties, 2) the state as a whole, and 3) the nation.
- Tab 4: Create a graph (style of your choosing) that compares the percentage of early and late diagnosis stage for Henry County’s top cancer site with the state and national rates.
- Below the Graph – provide a summary paragraph indicating WHY you chose the style of graph you are demonstrating, and explain why the use of this type of graph is better than 2 alternatives. Meaning, there are multiple types of graphs you could have chosen to demonstrate this data – what are 2 other types of graphs you could have chosen? Why is the style you selected better? Compare and contrast graph styles in this paragraph.
- Tab 5: Answer the following Questions:
- Why do you think the CFO wants to see this type of information?
- Why is it important to have standards across the country when analyzing data on cancer?
- How do the various data collection/demonstration methods (tables/graphs) help communicate the data in a clear way?
