Policy Stance Assignment Instructions In your Policy Stance Assignments, you will be tasked with choosing a specific current criminal justice policy discussed in the textbook and describing major issues with the policy. You will take a stance on the policy and state how we may best improve the policy and the benefits that can come from making these changes. Your arguments must be supported by research from academic sources and the changes you suggest must be logical and realistic. For this assignment, you will have two sections. The first section will cover the Flaws of the Policy and will give details about the negative aspects of the policy you have chosen. You should give details about specific groups this policy has negatively impacted. You should also be concerned with giving details about the impact the policy has had on the crime(s) it targets. If applicable, you may also give details about how the policy of your choosing has impacted the criminal justice system. Your second section will be Improving the Policy where you give details about the most effective change(s) that can be made to improve the policy. Your suggestion(s) for how to improve the policy must be supported by research. You will also state how these improvements may impact justice outcomes. Your Policy Stance Assignments must utilize a minimum of three academic sources (peer-reviewed journal articles, reliable websites, textbooks, etc.).
