Scenario:
In this process, you will take on the role of a paid consultant. You will work through the development of an Organization Theory Consulting Report that is strategically appropriate for a given organization. The organizational theory consulting report should be organized in the following sections.
Organization Description:
Begin this project with a brief description of your chosen organization. You can choose your current organization, a previous organization, or a public organization. The important element is that you have a strong working knowledge of this organization and its industry. This section should address the following elements including literature supporting your claims. For example, if you say the organization has a centralized structure then you will need to have cited support describing a centralized structure and what you cite should then match the descriptions you provided from the organization.
- Birth and brief history of the organization including its mission
- Current internal structure
- Current organizational design
Organizational Life:
In this section, you’ll need to describe the following:
- Current placement in organizational life cycle
- Organizational Culture and Climate elements
- Power and Politics in the organization
Macro-environment:
In this section, you will need to address the macroenvironmental realities facing the organization from a general systems theory approach. Also you will need to identify the relevant stakeholders and describe their interest or stake in the organization
Theoretical Perspective:
In this section, you will need to identify which of the major organizational theory approaches (Institutionalism, Resource Dependence, or Contingency Theory) appears to be the current mode of thought and direction in the organization. You will need to address the potential positives and negatives associated with this approach.
Recommendations for Organizational Change:
In this section, you will provide recommendations for organizational change. Be specific here and produce at least three – five specific ideas for how the organization can improve its operations based on your analysis.
