Discuss how did the economic status of the community influenced the dismissal and failure of leadership to respond to   

The Flint Water Crisis, is a tragic example of a public health crisis that emerged in a low socioeconomic region due to poor 

leadership a lack of strong advocacy and political actions that were not in the best interests of the community.

The problem began in 2014, when, in order to cut costs for the city of Flint, Michigan that was in deep financial distress, officials in Flint, switched the citys water supply from Lake Huron to Flint River, which had a history of poor water quality. Due to a failure to add corrosion controls to the tap water, lead and other chemicals leach from the old, worn pipes into the drinking supply.

And despite complaints from residents, elected officials dismissed concerns about the water and the population, including children were exposed to high lead water levels. Flint has a high number of residents in poverty.
