I believe that current sex offender registration laws have a positive effect for the most part. Working for Adult Probation has showed how sick people can be and having these sex offenders registered is a good way to notify the community and be able to keep tabs on these people. It helps keep the community safe and also notifies them when a registered sex offender is moving to or living in the area. Also as I have previously stated working with adult probation we monitor people who are serious sex offenders and are also monitored for life this is due to Jessica's Law "laws that provide harsh penalties for sex offenders and require lifetime GPS monitoring of certain offenders" (Worrall, 2015). I do not think that this is overly intrusive because once you have broken the law especially against children then you should have certain rights taken away for the protection of children and those around them. However, there are a few things that could be changed and improved just like any other law. I do believe that some of these changes should include whom must register as a sex offender, because this is very serious and is very intrusive but for people who do not truly deserve it this can ruin the rest of their lives.
