In this assignment, students will complete a 4-part marriage and family project. Part 1, 2, and 3 should be between 200-250 words and be backed up by at least 1 academically credible reference from peer-reviewed journal articles. Part 4 should be between 100 150 words. The reference for Part 4 may be the textbook.
Part 1: Examine the diversity and complexity of contemporary families: compare and contrast these findings to the traditional image of families portrayed in the media during the 1950s in the United States. Make sure to note some of the changes in current family structure including the role of gender in relationships compared to the cultural standards of the 1950s. 200-250 words. Include a reference list.
Part 2: Explore changing cultural attitudes about marriage and alternatives to marriage. Critically evaluate such issues as sexuality, partner choice, having and raising children, and combining work with family. 200-250 words. Include a reference list.
Part 3: Identify causes and consequences of relevant problems within contemporary families: discuss the problems and stresses faced by many working families. Single parent, dual working, same-sex families in the United States. Discuss how some of these problems are being addressed by families, workplaces, or at the local or national level. 200-250 words. Include a reference list.
Part 4: Why do researchers and practitioners use several theoretical perspectives to interpret data or choose intervention strategies? How do researchers know which data collection method to use? 100-150 words. Include a reference list.
Research and Information
In completing this project, be mindful of the sources you obtain. Your information should come from peer reviewed articles, journals, or books. Sources should not be based upon opinion but instead from analysis and verified data. News and magazine articles, whether in print or digital format, may contain information that is not verified, opinion, or outright falsehoods. The library is an excellent source to find credible information from journals and books. You may use statistical data, charts, and spreadsheets to support your arguments. Your instructor will assist you in completing identifying credible sources of information.
Formatting
You must use APA standards in formatting and citing. Your professor will provide a reference guide that will assist you in formatting your writing, creation of proper citations, and the creation of a proper reference page.
