Lisa Ryan spokesperson for the NJ Department of Community Affairs when interviewed answers a few questions and concerns about the program.   What are the future plans for the program ?   The plan for the program is to continue working with the City of Atlantic City and partnering authorities such as the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority to ensure completion by the federal expenditure deadline.

  How does the DEP plan on helping low income families ?  DCA believes that the projects included in the Atlantic City Resilience Program will be of huge benefit to low- and moderate-income families since the projects are aimed at mitigating flooding in city neighborhoods such as Chelsea Heights and the Inlet, which are home to households of limited financial means. The program is being funded with $20 million in federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds.

  How many phases do you expect the program to have? 

At the present time, the program is focused on completing the design of the various projects. Upon completion of the design phase for each project, DCA will move into construction for as many projects as there is funding available for. 

  What actions have been taken so far ? For the following projects, the design and engineering is complete and construction contracts are anticipated to be awarded next month (Construction specifications are available at the City of Atlantic City, City Hall) REPLACEMENT OF TIDE CHECK VALVES,LOWER CHELSEA BULKHEAD IMPROVEMENTS, and CONSTRUCTION OF BULKHEADS ALONG SOUTH BOULEVARD

For the following projects, design and engineering is complete and a solicitation for construction proposals will be advertised very soon, PUBLIC BUILDING FLOOD PROOFING, and GARDNERS BASIN.
