Retreating Diversity of StaffThis report aims at addressing a problem faced by Rainbow Colored Clothing over the last 12 months. The company reports to have a retreating diversity of staff in its work force, a situation that might cause problems to the company’s performance if not controlled. The report shall discuss the problem in detail and its possible causes.Discussion of the organizational problemStaff diversity in an organization refers to a work force made up of unique characteristics and experiences (Yarber, Sayad & Strong, 2010).  Retreating staff diversity therefore, refers to a situation in which an organization has employees with similar characteristics and experiences. The characteristics include age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion and ability among others. Retreating staff diversity in Rainbow Colored Clothing may cause damage to the company’s performance if not controlled.Identification of the causes of the problemVarious factors relating to functions of management cause retreating diversity of staff in the work force. These factors include poor communication, resistance and disorganization in an organization or business setting.  To begin with, resistance of employees to diversity and the changes that come with it causes retreating diversity in the work force. Employees’ resistance refers to the employees’ unwillingness to embrace any form of change in work force.This problem relates to the planning function of management. Resistance poses a threat to managers in implementation of a plan thus resulting to decreased productivity, low employee morale and reduced positive changes in a business. In a healthy business, employees need to support implementation of new plans aimed at the growth of a business. The issue may arise due to the management not knowing when to let an employee resistant to changes go. Additionally, this may occur due to reduced workshops meetings by the businesses that help in teaching employees about change and importance of embracing positive change (In Albach, 2014).  Secondly, Poor communication among staff in a business causes retreating staff diversity. Communication refers to exchange of information. Communication in a business includes both manager to subordinates and staff to staff.  Poor communication relates to the staffing function of management as it leads to poor office relationships among staffs and misinterpretation of information (Polèse & Stren, 2000). This may occur in a business due to lack of office retreats, diversity meetings and seminars. Communication barrier promotes retreating diversity in the work force. Finally, Disorganization in a business also leads to retreating diversity of staff. This refers to the lack of organization in a business. Before implementing a plan manager, need to communicate the plan to the staff to prevent retreating diversity as employees need involvement the business planning. The communication may take place through meetings, conferences and memos. Disorganization relates to planning and organization functions of management. Research indicates that getting staff on board about a plan before implementations helps in promoting diversity in the work force. Employees get to experience a sense of belonging through involvement in business decisions making procedures (Hahm, 2006)
