Iteration is vital when developing behavioral models because the creation process for building behavioral models is iterative. This procedure iterates over the individual behavioral models, but also over the structural and functional diagrams. Additionally, iteration is considered to be the key feature of design and analysis due to the fact that it guarantees the system functions correctly by continuously testing and reiterating at each phase in the process. Lastly, iterations comprise of various functions or single assignments that dissociate data structures inside of each stage of development.

Iteration is very important during creation of the behavioral model because it provides an opportunity to fine tune the functional model, structural model as well as the individual behavioral model itself. In previous chapters we learned how the functional model outlines the business processes and how the system interacts with the environment.  The structure model leverages the functional model work and builds on it, focusing on the structure of the objects.

The behavioral model builds on the structural model and focuses on the different permutations the objects can use to interact with each other. This is where the iteration is important. As the models are being developed, the analyst can learn about additional processes, structure or behaviors that will help fine tune the models, which can be incorporated, in a continuous lifecycle sequence.
