In my opinion, instructional tools for e-learning must be accessible for all types of learners while maximizing engagement. Reiterating the same material in multiple ways can allow students to reinforce the concepts they are learning while also providing options for students who may learn in a certain style or need accommodations for disabilities. An ideal online learning tool would offer visual, auditory, and kinesthetic stimulation. For example, providing a video, a podcast, and an interactive game, all covering the same content, would help students to retread the same material in various ways. I believe that the best online tools are the ones that help students forget that they are “learning;” students should be able to engage with the material in a way that feels fun, exciting, and natural. Tools like this can help students to overcome potential biases against the concept of school, an issue I see all too often in the adult learners I work with.
