Your ultimate goal in this assignment is to explain an organizational chart to someone unfamiliar with the organization. In order to do that, you will research and select a healthcare organizational chart of your choosing and produce a 3-5 page paper that:

Includes the name of the healthcare organization and a link to chart at the beginning of your paper.

Provides an overview of organizational structure and context in the larger community (think about Ch. 1 in the textbook).

Applies at least 3 concepts from Ch. 1 and 6 in the textbook and clearly cites the concepts in appropriate APA format.

Picks 3 positions from the organizational chart and describes what a person in this position would do in the organization and what kinds of skills the person would need to be successful in the position. Note: you will likely need to do additional research to support your claims in this part of the paper.

Applies APA principles throughout (12 point Times New Roman or Calibri font, double-spaced, cover page, reference page, in-text citation).

Content: (50 points)

Thoroughly addresses all key points from the prompt questions. Provides an in-depth analysis. Includes examples to support key points. Uses the textbook and external resources and connects to them in an appropriate and meaningful way.

Structure, Readability and Style: (15 points)

Includes a clear organizational structure that the reader can follow- clear introduction, body, conclusion, and transitions that connect his/her ideas together. Uses clear and concise language that utilizes active voice (not passive voice) and defines any unfamiliar jargon.

Mechanics: (15 points)

Follows APA format appropriately in terms of format and source citation (in-text and on the references page) when applicable; follows conventions of the English language (grammar, spelling, sentence/paragraph structure, etc.). Similar text is less than 10% (not including references section.) A cover page, resources section, and abstract are required.

You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.

Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.

The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
