Great job on this week’s discussion. Although I see the need for  (TANF), I do not agree with married women being able to utilize this  program. Personally, marriage to me means that two individuals go  out  and provide for one another at whatever capacity they need or have to  ,with the exception of something illegal. Single mothers or fathers,   certainly need the assistance in which TANF provides but my concern is  why should two married adults be allowed the same assistance as a single  parent? I understand every situation has its own barriers, but an able  bodied man and woman have no excuse for not being productive in trying  to become self-reliant.

our text states, ” public assistance is the public  program designed to aid the very poorest members of our society”  (Popple, 2015).

The change I would make regarding the qualifications for TANF  would consist of married couples providing documentation of a physician  as to why they are not actively seeking employment. Maybe,  this  implementation in qualifying for TANF would prompt able bodied adults in  becoming responsible productive members of society.

You made relevant statements regarding the programs and their intent to  impact the lives of people in our society. what is amazing our  politicians who receive so many benefits removed many of our   tax deductions. Head of Household is amazing to me. You don’t work and  can get thousands back…WHY????

In times of assisting some of my client’s to the grocery store at  the beginning of the moth, I too, have witnessed the purchase of costly,  unhealthy food items. Sweetened cereals, seafood, rib eye steaks are  items which I have to work 40 hours a week to purchase and enjoy. It  flabbergasts me to acknowledge and assist those who are able bodied in  purchasing these items verses trying to conserve the allotments which  they qualify for, I understand that people in need qualify for  assistance, but there should be more restrictions as to what can be  purchased.
