Ethics at Work

Doctor Love begins practice in a remote Ontario community. He is the only doctor in town. He becomes interested in his patient, Charlene, and would like to date her, but his professional codes discourage this practice. Dr. Love argues that he cannot develop any social life outside of his patients, since he is the only doctor in town, and believes he should be exempt from this code. He argues that any doctor practicing in remote regions should be exempt from ethical codes prohibiting romantic relationships between doctors and patients in order to ensure physicians are willing to practice in remote areas.
