Discuss the complex relationship between the religious communities mentioned above and their external, socio-political cultures. Religious cultures are a subset of a large, macrocosmic culture

for example: in Ancient Rome, when Jewish communities, or early Christian, would meet to worship it had to be in secret, because they were banned/illegal.

Answer these questions:

• What does that do to their ability to create art and express their visual culture in a public setting?
• What adaptations must be made?
• Where do we see this (i.e. where is the evidence?) and how does this ultimately shape their role in future iterations of this macrocosmic culture?
