O.J. Simpson

Each student will submit a case study research paper based on an analysis of a well-known criminal case that: 1) was investigated, 2) solved with arrest(s) being made and 3) was prosecuted, either successfully or unsuccessfully.  The case should be drawn from America within the last sixty (60) years.  The paper must include facets relevant to this course.  Items of relevance include, but are not limited to:

a) What crimes were charged against the defendant?

b) Did any constitutional issues become evident during the investigation?

c) What defenses/justification was presented by defense counsel?

d) What, if any, jury issues may have been present?

e) Were there any issues with the judicial component of the case?

f) Did the defense have any post-conviction appeals available?

g) Your assessment of the outcome of the case i.e. Do you believe that the prosecution was fair or was it biased?

Support your assessment with specific reasons and facts that form your conclusion. Depending on your topic, you may point out difficulties investigating some types of crimes or show that some are so common that a standard process is used very successfully.

The paper must be an original work completed for this class!!!

DELIVERABLES: The paper should in APA (Links to an external site.) format, be 8-10 pages in length, not including the title (cover) page (Links to an external site.) and reference page (Links to an external site.), with a minimum of 8 references (Links to an external site.), double spaced (Links to an external site.), 12-point Times New Roman font, and 1 inch margins.
