The Decline of European Christianity and the possible decline in the USA.

While Christianity grew strong in Europe, and especially during the Protestant Reformation, it slowly experienced a decline such that today Christianity only enjoys a fraction of the numbers it previously witnessed. Write an essay of 500–750 words that discusses various reasons why the involvement of Europeans in Christianity has declined. The period that can be covered in this paper can be from 1675-present. You can select your beginning date (from 1675 on), but do conclude with the state of Christianity in Europe today. Do not focus on a single denomination but Christianity in general.  Also, you can use the textbook but will also need to use outside sources.  Be sure to include them in the bibliography at the end of the thread.

1. Do not count Europeans who came to America as a decline in numbers of Christians in Europe.  While this did cause a decline of Christians in Europe, the focus of the paper is on the reasons people left the Christian faith.
2. While it can be argued that the decline of Christianity began in the Middle Ages with the Catholic Church, please focus on the time after 1675.
3. Your search can include academic sources on the internet.  As a suggestion:  type in “Christianity decline Europe” (without the quotation marks) or other phrases.  You will find many articles and opinions.

Also, in a final short paragraph, explain if you think this decline in Christianity is possible in the USA today.
