Introduction paper assignment:

Your introduction to this paper should begin with a point of connection or comparison, such as a shared theme, motif, or situation, between two of the works we have read.

Starting from this connection, contextualize both of the examples you plan to discuss. From what work of literature does each example come? What genre is it? What place does each example have in the larger work from which it has been excerpted? When was it written, and by whom?

Articulate a clear and specific thesis that contrasts the expression, treatment, and/or values of the two works based on evidence from the text and/or historical and cultural contexts.

Your introduction should make clear that you are illuminating something new and significant about both texts.

Submit the assignment to the D2L dropbox in readable .doc or .docx form by 11 p.m. on the day specified on your syllabus.

Your introduction should be one full page, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font with standard margins.

Use correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and citations (MLA form).

Have a clear thesis that contrasts one of the works we have studied with another. You should focus on a specific aspect of both works as your basis of comparison.
